Shooting Exercise #7 - Abstraction

  1. I really enjoy this series of abstracted images! The seem to all relate to school, the classroom, or the art studio. Visually the work well together. I like that there are recognizable, or seemingly recognizable, things in each shot, but the the viewer isn't given context as to what else was in the scene. The way that you represented, but cut off the possibility to fully view, three objects in the second image was a clever way of abstracting the scene. Well done!

  2. I really love this series! You nailed the abstracted theme with your very tight compositions. I love that my brain has to completely fill in the 'clues' you've given by only capturing half the chalk board (yet my brain knows it is a chalk board). I think your lighting is also fantastic and everything is perfectly lit. I think the 3rd one is my favorite because of the use of the squares - I enjoy the way they are all different, yet compliment one another. Awesome job!

  3. Great job this week! The drying racks (it took me a bit to figure out what they were) are a great subject for abstraction with all of the geometric shapes they make. I love how you filled in the entire or majority of the frame in each image. You took a relatively ordinary place like an art classroom and made it visually interesting and abstract, completely nailing the point of this exercise. :)
